This is where it began. This is where it ended. This album is the alpha and the omega of Eat Your Neighbors. It is the primer, the key, the legend, to the map.

Ten Steps was written by Joe Granato in 2001, in a cramped apartment bedroom, using Cakewalk Pro 9, an Ensoniq TS 12 Sequencer, and a thrift store guitar, on a computer with just a few megabytes of storage. Songs were recorded one at a time, bounced, burned, and deleted to free up room for the next. It was fitting, being that the album was about futility and frustration of creative endeavors.

But those were the recordings that inevitably launched Eat Your Neighbors. That sense of futility was a thread that wormed through the bands entire run. And so, it seems fitting that ten years later, a re-recording of that initial album would be the best bookend for the decade spent aurally offending the masses.

It is no accident that the album itself exists as an infinite loop.
